The eyes follow every bite you take. The bowl is empty four seconds after you fill it, and the begging starts before it is even licked clean. Some of this is normal dog. Some of it is a symptom, and telling the difference matters more than any feeding trick.
If your dog is suddenly hungrier than usual, especially alongside weight loss or gain, drinking or urinating more, vomiting, or diarrhea, book a vet visit. Increased appetite can come with diabetes, Cushing’s disease, gut disorders that block nutrient absorption, parasites, and medications such as steroids. It can also creep up with age. Your vet can run blood work and other tests to sort medical causes from behavior. No feeding strategy should come before that check.
Most food obsession in healthy dogs is learned, and learned behavior can be reshaped:
A dog who inhales food and begs is not greedy or broken. Food is simply the most reliable good thing they know. Keep portions honest, make meals last, pay calm behavior with your company instead of calories, and let your vet guide anything to do with weight.
Choose what fits. Nothing is saved or submitted.
