How to use music with your puppy
- Start when things are already calm. Play the same soft music during naps and quiet evenings, so it becomes part of “rest time”.
- Keep the volume low. Dogs hear well, and quiet background music is plenty.
- Use it as one part of a routine. Music works best alongside a predictable evening, a comfortable sleeping spot and enough daytime naps. The puppy sleep planner builds that routine for you in a minute.
- Practice before you need it. If you want music to help when you step out, start with very short absences while it plays (see helping your puppy practice being alone).
- Watch your puppy, not the playlist. If a track makes your puppy more alert, switch it off. Every dog is different.
Music is a nice extra, not a fix on its own. For noisy nights, see your puppy’s first fireworks, and for the first nights at home, what to do when your puppy cries at night.
